25 YEARS AND STILL GOING STRONG
Silver Anniversaries are special, and the Foundation’s is no exception. The Foundation of Laguna Woods Village celebrated its 25th Anniversary in 2022, having begun in May 1997. This milestone is really a tribute to the Village which has sustained it and made it possible — making the motto “Neighbors Helping Neighbors” a reality.
More recently, through the support of the Village, the Foundation has spent over $1.2 million to ensure the well-being of the Village over the past five years. Among its traditional services, the Foundation provides funding for Meals on Wheels, Alzheimer’s day service scholarships, and individual resident financial assistance.
But the Foundation helps Village residents in some less known ways. Based upon resident needs, it provides earthquake kits, pays for CARE ambulance contracts, transports residents to the local food pantry, and in one instance recently replaced the battery in a golf cart to maintain an elderly resident’s mobility. More recently the Foundation supported the Village’s vaccination effort and before the pandemic helped fund a Fall Prevention Program in the Village.

COVID-19 UPDATE
Covid-19 has upended many activities in the Village. Community centers have been closed, club meetings halted, and religious services are being held via Zoom. The Foundation is trying to meet the challenge presented by the pandemic. We distributed masks early on and have set up a special “pandemic food fund” at Social Services to ensure no resident goes without food.
But we need your help. First, if there are additional issues that you think the Foundation can help with, please contact us at thefoundation@comline.com or 949-268-2246. We depend on your input to help the Village.
Second, if there are people who you think are becoming more isolated or “food insecure,” please contact Social Services at 949-597-4267 to have them do a telephone wellness check.
We are in this together, and together we will meet this challenge.

About Us |
The Foundation of Laguna Woods Village is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, a non-profit corporation, for the purpose of raising and distributing charitable funds in Laguna Woods Village, a senior community of 18,000 residents in South Orange County, CA.
|
The Foundation was established in 1997 by a small group of residents who saw a need to provide temporary financial assistance to qualifying residents of our community.
Specifically, The Foundation provides emergency assistance to qualifying residents with supermarket cash cards, prescription payments, bill payments for utility services, medical and dental, care giver and respite care services, taxi vouchers for travel to health care providers in Orange County, and gas cards.
In addition, through Age Well Senior Services, The Foundation funds programs which directly help Village residents.

Who We are
The Foundation of Laguna Woods Village is run by an all volunteer board of Village residents. We work with the Village's Department of Social Services, who identifies and qualifies needy residents, and when no other support is available, Social Services recommends that the Foundation pay specific bills to the providers. The residents remain anonymous to the Foundation.
